July 2009 Monthly Meeting - NHibernate

NHibernate
This presentation will be an overview of NHibernate that is chock full of code sample goodness and real life scenarios. You will leave with a full understanding of the key features of NHibernate and where you can go to dive into more detail. The topics discussed will include:

  • Intro to Object Relational Mapping (ORM) and the problem space it lives in.
  • The productivity and maintainability you can get from using an ORM tool
  • NHibernate Mapping
  • CRUD Operations using the NHibernate session,  HQL (Hibernate Query Language) and HCQ (Hibernate Criteria Query)
  • References

We will have food and social time at 5:30, and begin the presentation at 5:45. The presentation will last approximately an hour and a half.

Presenter: Paul Johansen

Paul Johansen is the Chief Architect for Global Knowledge Management and the Shared Services Development Leader at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. His current work revolves around finding better ways to share information across the 170,000 Deloitte practitioners and ensuring Deloitte stays compliant with their Risk and Regulatory responsibilities.  Prior to Deloitte he was a consultant for 7 years and worked in the wireless industry for 5 years. Paul has been working with .NET since its inception and currently is spending a lot of time in WCF and integrating cross-platform Open Source frameworks into his teams solutions (NHibernate, Spring.NET, Log4Net, etc). Paul’s loves in life include his family, Agile development practices, power tools and hard rock music.

We meet in Meyer Hall, room 130 on the campus of Bethany College in Mankato. If you park in the Meyer Hall lot, room 130 is the first door on the right when entering from the lower level entrance.
